About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant – Operations to join our Finance team in a commercially important role supporting operational leadership. Reporting to the Lead Operational Finance, this position supports financial planning, cost management, performance reporting and informed operational decision-making within a complex, asset-intensive environment.

The role is a key contributor to annual budgeting and monthly forecasting, partnering with operational and corporate stakeholders to ensure financial plans reflect business priorities and operational requirements. You will interpret financial data, identify trends, test assumptions and provide commercially focused insights to senior management. You will also lead the end-to-end monthly reporting cycle, including financial analysis and performance commentary. This includes managing key month-end accounting activities such as accruals, provisions, allocations and cost transfers to support accurate, timely and compliant reporting.

This role will involve travel to our mine sites in the Pilbara to build operational knowledge and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.

 

Duties:

  • Partner with operational stakeholders to support medium- and long-term planning, with a focus on cost discipline, productivity measurement and operational efficiency
  • Coordinate annual budgeting and forecasting activities for relevant operational areas
  • Lead the monthly reporting cycle, including accruals, provisions, allocations, cost transfers and variance analysis
  • Deliver clear and concise monthly performance analysis and commentary, highlighting material risks, trends and improvement opportunities
  • Provide financial analysis and guidance to support operational and strategic decisions, including capital proposals and business cases
  • Review financial data and challenge assumptions to improve the quality of forecasts, plans and management reporting
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes, policies, controls and reporting practices
  • Work collaboratively with the commercial analytics team on targeted insights and ad‑hoc initiatives

 

Skills and Experience: 

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business; CA or CPA qualification is highly regarded
  • Management accounting experience within a medium to large, asset-intensive organisation, ideally in mining, mineral processing, refining or manufacturing
  • Experience in cost reporting, budgeting, forecasting, operational cost control and month-end accounting activities
  • Experience partnering with senior operational stakeholders and providing financial analysis to support business decisions, including the evaluation of capital proposals and business cases
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling and data analysis, together with Power BI reporting experience
  • Working knowledge of management accounting principles, financial controls and reporting processes; SAP ERP experience is highly regarded
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret financial and operational data, prepare meaningful performance commentary, constructively challenge assumptions and support evidence-based decision-making
